! The NWS has noted that a tropical wave will pass near the region on Sunday, raising the potential for rain and thunderstorms. There will be excessive heat across the islands again on Sunday and throughout the week ahead.

SUNDAY’S WEATHER FORECAST: 6/23/24
Happy Sunday!
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. Tropical moisture will be prevalent across the region as a tropical wave moves past the area, and rainfall may be heavy at times. The high temperature will be approximately 91°F, 32.7°C, with winds out of the east at about 17 mph, gusting up to 22 mph. The Heat Index may be high, and staying hydrated and cool is essential. The chance of rain on Sunday is roughly 50 percent.
Sunday night will be mostly cloudy, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. The low temperature will be approximately 80°F, 26.6°C, with winds out of the east-southeast at about 18 mph, gusting up to 24 mph. The possibility of rain on Sunday night is roughly 60 percent.

MARINE WEATHER UPDATE
On Sunday, the seas will be approximately 2 to 4 feet, with occasional seas up to 5 feet. Winds will be out of the east at about 15 knots, gusting up to 20 knots.

Rip Currents: The risk of rip currents is projected to be low to moderate across most of the region on Sunday.

TROPIC WATCH
Tropical Activity:
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two areas. The NHC has noted that an area of low pressure has moved inland across portions of the southeast USA. Further development is not expected.
Additionally, the NHC is watching the Gulf of Mexico for possible cyclonic development. A tropical depression may soon form in the Gulf. Regardless, heavy rain is expected across portions of the east coast of Mexico and the southeast coast of Texas.
