UVI Track and Field Athletes Do Well at LAI Qualifier

Shania Shervington, Meritzer Lawrance, Jared Hanley and Isaiah Horsford competed for the University of the Virgin Islands Track and Field Team in the second of three LAI qualifiers. All of these athletes are first timers and gave a very good account of theirselves.
Meritzer long jumped 4.64 meters, which is roughly (15 feet) — a good jump for someone with a bad thigh muscle who also ran the 100 meter. Hanley is just coming into his own with the sprints he ran in 11.98 seconds in the 100m. His times have been dropping every meet. Shervington’s shot put travelled over 9 meters, which was remarkable considering she had never done it before.
