Positive Vibes Inches Closer to the Title

The St. Thomas Regions league-leading defending champions, the Positive Vibes, inched closer to retaining their title when they blanked the last place Togetherness 2-0 in the Sunday evening’s action at the Lionel Roberts Stadium. With only three games left, the Positive Vibes needs one more win to make it mathematically impossible for the New Vibes to catch up with them. The Positive Vibes has 45 points while the New Vibes has 35.
The Positive Vibes opened the scoring on a Delice Walding header. The league’s scoring leader, Amon Bascombe, put the Positive Vibes further ahead when he scored to make it 2-0 at the half. There were no goals scored in the second half. In the night cap, the New Vibes suffered a blow to their hopes of overcoming the Positive Vibes as they had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 tie with the Haitian Victory. The Victory’s Guitho Malbranche scored 20 minutes into the game to give his side an early lead. The New Vibes’ Brian Charlery scored the equalizer after he capitalized on a goal keeping blunder just before half time.
Action continues Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the same venue when the Raymix face the Laraza at 6:45p.m. followed by the Waitikubuli and the New Vibes.
