WORKERS SAY WAPA CONTRACTING OUTSIDE LINEMEN

As the WAPA board met Tuesday, some 75 employees demonstrated outside, in part against what they say is a plan to hire outsiders for the street light work recently transferred to WAPA, something the executive director, Joseph Thomas, said is not true. The governor arrived around noon and spoke with the protesters for about 20 minutes before going upstairs to the conference room where the board was meeting in the dark because of a power outage.
