Female Injured by Gunfire from Fleeing Suspects in Hospital Ground

Three men firing guns in Hospital Ground, in the area of Goat Street, shot a woman, who was treated for her injuries at Schneider Regional Medical Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to Hospital Ground to check a call of shots fired in the Goat Street area. Police encountered a person who reported that three males, all dressed in black with black stockings over their faces, were in the roadway firing shots. Other witnesses reported that the males ran though the parking lot of the Department of Human Services firing their handguns.

A female victim, whose name was not released by police, told officers at the hospital that as she was leaving the area, she heard shots being fired and ran. She sustained two gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle for a treatment.

Police urged anyone with any information about the crime to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5579 or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
