Two Men Shot to Death in Separate Hospital Ground Incidents

Two men were killed Wednesday in Hospital Ground on St. Thomas in separate incidents, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police the victims were identified as 44-year-old Deshaune Harrigan and 42-year-old Michael McKie. They were the fifth and sixth homicides on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 12th and 13th in the territory. The Source homicide list is based on the VIPD list, but unlike the police and lists of some other media, the Source does not list suicides or vehicular homicides, resulting in differing totals.

According to police at 4:19 a.m. on Wednesday the Major Crimes Unit was notified of a homicide that occurred in Hospital Ground. Detectives traveled to the area and found an unresponsive male lying face down in the roadway with gunshot wounds about the body. The victim, identified by next of kin as Harrigan, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

At 8:14 p.m. on Wednesday, the 911 emergency call center was notified of a gunshot victim in Hospital Ground, in the vicinity of the Fish Market. Dispatched officers found a black male with no vital signs. The victim was identified by next of kin as McKie.

Police urged anyone with information regarding either of these incidents to call 911, the Major Crimes Unit at 340-774-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
