Two brothers, Kimani A. Chiverton and Gyasi Chiverton, were arrested by officers from the V.I. Police Department’s Special Operations Bureau Wednesday after a traffic stop resulted in a chase.

According to the VI. Police Department at about 6:07 p.m. Wednesday police in the Sion Farm area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a license plate. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was later identified as Kimani A. Chiverton, and requested registration documents, Kimani A. Chiverton drove off at a high rate of speed, the police said.

Officers maintained visual contact with the vehicle and followed it to a residential driveway in the area.

When the vehicle came to a stop the officers saw a male individual, who was later identified as Gyasi Chiverton, exit the vehicle’s passenger front door and take off running. Kimani was immediately detained.

Gyasi ran into the residence. Officers immediately set up a perimeter around the residence and were able to secure a search warrant.

Officers executing the search warrant found 32 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and a large amount of marijuana were discovered in a room that was later identified as Gyasi Chiverton’s room.

Both brothers were arrested: 24-year-old Kimani A. Chiverton charged with interfering with an officer discharging his duty bail was set at $1,000; 21-year-old Gyasi Chiverton is not authorized to possess or sell ammunition in the territory, police said, and he was charged with unauthorized possession or sale of ammunition, possession of a uncontrolled substance with intent to distribute, and bail was set at $10,000.

Both Chiverton brothers were remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Correctional Facility.
