The pre-construction meeting for the Pilgrim Terrace Bypass Repair Project was held this week – clearing the way for the project to begin.

Pilgrim Terrace Bypass was severely damaged during Hurricane Maria, leaving a gaping hole in an area that was once road. The project aims to overhaul a segment of the collapsed roadway, making it able to withstand natural disasters in the future.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 20, Grade All Heavy Equipment Inc. will begin work on this project. This will entail the construction of a new retaining wall and concrete pavement, as well as the installation of new drainage facilities and guardrails along the roadway.

The repair work is estimated to cost $380,000 and be completed by March of 2019. The bypass will be closed to vehicular traffic, only allowing residents to traverse in and out of the local area for the duration of this project.

Commissioner Nelson Petty Jr. stated that he is grateful for the community’s patience as the department works to repair the territory’s roadways. “I know the process is long and can be quite frustrating,” he said. “Just know we are working as quickly as the process will allow to get these projects out.”
