In the continuance of its efforts to improve the territory’s infrastructure, the V.I. Department of Public Works and its contractor, Island Roads Corporation, are working towards the completion of the Turpentine Run Bridge Approaches Project. Starting Wednesday, Oct. 3, it will be necessary to detour traffic approaching the job limits from all directions. This will allow for the installation of critical drainage features.
The contractor will be installing two 48-inch concrete pipe culverts near the Agriculture Abattoir. Workers will also be installing other underground utilities to include communication, electrical, water and sewer lines. Traffic will be diverted on to the newly constructed bridge approaches to allow for this construction activity.
Traffic patterns will be managed through the use of a roundabout at the intersection of Route 32 Turpentine Run Road and Route 30 Bolongo Bay/Nadir Road. The proper use of a roundabout requires drivers to yield to drivers already in the roundabout.
The Department urges motorists to pay special attention to pavement markings and other traffic control devices. Arrows and hatch markings will be present to assist with proper traffic flow. Flaggers will also be on site to assist with this transition.
