Man Shot to Death in Bovoni

A 35-year-old man, Calvin Garvey, was shot and killed Monday night in the vicinity of Sanchez Town in Bovoni, according to the V.I. Police Department.

It was the 10th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 15th in the territory.

At approximately 10:26 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a man having been shot. Officers converged on the scene and found the body of an unresponsive black man on the floor of the Green Bar. He’d sustained a single gunshot wound. The emergency medical technicians on the scene said the victim showed no signs of life.

Garvey was later identified by next of kin.

Police asked anyone with information about the homicide to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 340-714-9823, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
