Multiple units of fire fighters responded to a structural fire Wednesday evening in Anna’s Retreat, fighting a fire that damaged a home, according to a news release from St. Thomas Fire Chief Oral Wheatley.
According to the report, Lima Company received an emergency call of a structure fire at 173-7 Anna’s Retreat. Both units of Lima Company responded, arriving at 10:49 p.m.
Arriving at the scene they found the one-story residence fire. Additional units from Hotel Company were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters fought the blaze for about 13 minutes, according to the report, and the flames were extinguished at 11:02 p.m. Fire personnel then conducted their salvage and overhaul operations of the fire scene. According to Wheatley, the building sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
Contact was also made with the American Red Cross to assist the displaced residents. Contact was made with the arson investigation unit to report to the scene.
At 1:05 a.m., both units and crew returned to Lima Company and additional units were ordered to return to Hotel Company.
