Minors Charged with Burglaries

Two minors were arrested Tuesday and charged with a rash of burglaries that have taken place in Enfield Green, Estate Whim and Estate Williams Delight in the last two weeks, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Both suspects are 16 years old. According to police one of minors escaped from the Youth Rehabilitation Center in mid-October and has been away from the facility since then. He had been detained at YRC after being charged with committing similar burglaries.

The second minor is “no stranger to the system,” police said. That minor was also previously arrested for break-ins and other crimes.

Several homes in Enfield Green were broken into over the last seven to 10 days, according to detectives working the case.

The minors were arrested about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday and charged with third-degree burglary. They were taken to the Youth Rehabilitation Center where they were detained pending their appearance in Juvenile Court.
