Tax Assessor’s Office Clarifies Information Requested from Commercial Property Owners

The Tax Assessor’s Office is offering clarification to commercial property owners throughout the territory who received mailed notification of the collection of property data, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. The property data is actually being collected for the 2011 operating year and not for the 2010 year as previously indicated. Accordingly, commercial property owners are advised to submit the requested Income and Expense Survey Form for operating year 2011, and all required documents to the Tax Assessor’s Office by Nov. 30.
The requested documentation, which includes rent, vacancy and expense information, will be added to a database of commercial market data that is maintained by the Tax Assessor’s Office. All data submitted will be held in the strictest of confidence in accordance with the law.
The Tax Assessor’s Office has the legal authority to request information relative to all real property that is either owned by an individual or for which they act as a partner, trustee, administrator, guardian or agent.
For more information, contact the Tax Assessor’s Office at 776-8505.
