Raphael Sebastian Munchez Sr. Dies at 82

Raphael Sebastian Munchez Sr.
Raphael Sebastian Munchez Sr. of Estate St. John died on July 30 at his residence. He was 82 years old.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Stephanie (Neville) Munchez; his father, John Munchez; wives: Vivian and Nancy Munchez; and daughter, Marcella Munchez-Boucenna.
He is survived by his sons: Raphael Jr., Richard; stepson, Jason Jimeno; daughters: Tonya Nyfield, Val Munchez-Van der Wagt, Barbara Munchez-Nurse, Sheila Munchez-Weikel, Cherie Munchez-Curran and Michelle St. Cyr; stepdaughter, Shaneen Jimeno; grandchildren: Dawn, Ralph A., Shavon, Matthew S. , Elliot, Sarah, Mark, Matthew A., Anna, Isabel, Naydean, Katrina, Maya, Rachelle, Julian, Ethan, Madeline, Michael and Christopher; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Bryant, Leah, Kirsten, Marcus, London, David and Isabella; daughter-in-law, Marisol; and sons–in-law: Jan Van der Wagt, Carline “Juker” Nurse, Matthew Weikel, Tom Curran, Glenn St. Cyr and Abdelkrim Boucenna.
He is also survived by other relatives: Lorraine Harris, Josephine Alicea, Ivan Ciriaco, Marsha (former spouse), Catherine Neville, Marcellino Santiago, Francisco “RD” Morales, Christopher “Ferdie” Simmonds, Chandra Rivera, Charles A. Bennett Jr., Jinara Reyes and Celine Rivera, the Wilms family; special friends: Jane and Doug Atkins, Annie Day-Henry and family, Linda Clarke, Joaquin Ortiz, Alda Anduze, Beco and Nilsa Encarnacion, Francine Winfrey, Carole Scott, Wanda Centeno, Jenelle Jeffers, Gabriel and Rosa, Michelle Sookoo, Mariangeli Hendricks, Desiree James, Ti Lenhardt, the Fontenelles, Jenny Ras and Stacey Wiggins. Special thanks to Drs. Kendell Griffith and Lisa Sotomayor-Vega, caregiver Lucilia Prince, the staff at the Veterans’ Clinic and Continuum Care; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Affiliations: American Legion Post 85 and Auxiliary Unit, Boy Scouts of America, Gentlemen of Jones and Knights of Columbus.
On Saturday, Aug. 4, the first viewing will be held at 8:00 a.m. at Post 85 American Legion Hall, Christiansted, followed by a second viewing at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. and the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Christiansted Cemetery.
