Two more people were arrested in connection with a grand larceny and second degree robbery that happened July 6 at Coki Point Beach, the Police Department said in a press release issued Monday.
Calema Penn, 24, and Jenee Garcia, 22, were arrested Wednesday and placed on $75,000 bail each. Sefrah Lewis, 29 was arrested on July 17 and placed on a $45,000 bail. In addition to grand larceny and second degree robbery charges, the suspects were also charged with conspiracy and third degree assault.
A 24-year-old woman allegedly was assaulted and had her belongings taken from her by three other females. Police said the victim and suspects were friends at one time but their relationship had degraded.
According to detectives, Garcia drove the victim to the beach. Once there, Lewis, Penn and Garcia allegedly assaulted the victim by repeatedly hitting her with a two-by-four. The suspects are also alleged to have stolen the victim’s cell phone valued at just under $400 before leaving her alone on the beach.
The victim was later treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for bruises to her knew, elbows, stomach and thigh.
When the suspects attended their respective advice of rights hearings, their bail was adjusted and they were released pending the trial date.
