24-Year-Old Charged with Embezzlement

Kelvin J. Louis Jr., 24, was arrested around 5 p.m. Monday on St. Croix after allegedly embezzling more than $11,000. He was charged with forgery, obtaining money by false pretenses, grand larceny, embezzlement by fiduciaries and embezzlement by an employee, a Police Department press release indicates.

Detectives said Louis made several fraudulent reverse credit transactions from the McDonald’s Golden Rock location account at Banco Popular that were credited to his personal Scotia Bank and Banco Popular accounts.

Most of the false transactions were made between August and December 2011.

His bail was set at $50,000 and he was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
