Dolphin Tournament Postponed Until April 22

Due to the small craft advisory and forecast for 20 to 25 knot winds and 6 to 8 foot seas on April 15, the Virgin Islands Game Fishing Club (VIGFC) has postponed its annual Dolphin Derby sponsored by Budget Car & Truck Rental to Sunday April 22.
Registration will take place at the VIGFC in Red Hook on Friday April 20 starting at 6:30 p.m. The fee is $250 for member boats with $50 for an extra rod and $300 for non-members with $60 for an extra rod. The Captain’s Meeting will follow registration. Fishing will begin with lines in the water at 6 a.m. on April 22. All boats must be back at the American Yacht Harbor dock by 4 p.m. to weigh-in.
The top prize is $25,000 cash awarded to the angler who catches a dolphin (mahi-mahi) that weighs over 55-pounds. Cash prizes will be awarded to anglers who catch the next 9 largest dolphin by weight. Ties in weight will be broken by length. The Best Boat award will be given to the vessel with the most dolphin by weight.
