Christensen Announces Applications for YouthBuild Program Grants

Delegate Donna M. Christensen has announced that the YouthBuild Program has begun solicitation of grant applications. The deadline for application is 4 p.m. on May 8. This year, 75 communities will be awarded grants ranging from $700,000 to $1.1 million. First time applicants, as well as existing YouthBuild programs that were not awarded in the most recent competition, are encouraged to apply, according to a press release issued Friday by the Office of the Delegate to Congress.
The YouthBuild model balances in-school learning, which leads to the achievement of a high-school diploma or passing the GED test, and occupational training that prepares youth for career placement. Their target population is high school dropouts who may also be adjudicated youth, youth aging out of foster care, youth with disabilities or other at-risk youth populations.
