Man Shot to Death in Estate Smith Bay

Rashaile Ja, a 29-year-old resident of Estate Smith Bay, was shot to death Thursday, according to a report from the V.I. Islands Police Department.

It was the territory’s third homicide in 2011, the second on St. Thomas.

According to the police report, officers responded at about 11 a.m. to a call of shots fired in Estate Smith Bay. Arriving moments later they were told that a victim was being driven to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center. At the hospital they learned that Ja had been shot multiple times.

He later died of his injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate, and St. Thomas/St. John District Police Chief Rodney F.
