Superintendent of Schools for the St. Croix District Gary Molloy has been invited to participate in the National Alliance of Black School Educators’ (NABSE) Second Exemplary Leadership Summit from June 24-26, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Molloy is amongst 60 African-American public school superintendents selected from 368 across the nation. The leadership forum will address the advancement of academic proficiency of African American and other minority students as well as leadership challenges and opportunities.
NABSE is a non-profit organization that is devoted to furthering the academic success for the nation’s children, especially those children of African descent. Founded in 1970, it is the nation’s largest network of African-American educators. The organization reaches out to over 13,000 educators, including teachers, administrators, superintendents and other corporate and institutional membersthroughout the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. It is dedicated to improving both the educational experiences and accomplishments of African-American youth through the development and use of instructional and motivational methods that increase levels of inspiration, attendance and overall achievement; and promotes programs that deal with professional development, information-sharing on strategies that will help to motivate youth and increase their academic performances, and policy advocacy.
Molloy said, “I am extremely humbled, appreciative and excited for the opportunity to participate in such a significant and vital program. The NABSE looks to promote and facilitate the education of all African-American students. In order to complete this mission it has established a coalition of African-American educators, administrators and other professionals that are both directly and indirectly involved in the educational system and process through a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies to improve opportunities for African-American educators and students. I look forward my participation and my return to share and implement strategies that are sure to help students succeed and improve our public education system.”
