Montessori School and Academy Presents “Taste the Nations”

The Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy (VIMSIA) will host a new fundraising event called “Taste the Nations” from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, in conjunction with the Full Moon Jazz, hosted by Yacht Haven Grande. This year’s event will focus on celebrating VIMSIA’s 45th anniversary, showcasing how it has grown from a local school to an international institution.

Professional and amateur chefs have been invited to prepare a selection of foods and desserts from around the world, and event-goers will be able to purchase taste-sized servings of the culinary creations. As people move from station to station throughout the event, they will receive a stamp for their event passport as a reminder of what countries they have visited.
Participating restaurants include: Grand Cru, Wikked, Fat Turtle, Victor’s Hideout, Cafe Amalia, Buddha Sushi, Morgan’s Mango (St. John), Old Stone Farmhouse, East End Cafe, The Cellar, Cafe Amici, Molly Molone’s, Three King’s Catering, Parrot’s Rockcity Cantina, Havana Blue, VI Desserts, Biggi Dodson Catering and more.
The event will also feature an International Bazaar where VIMSIA’s Montessori Model United Nations Delegates and students from the Italy/Greece, Guatemala and Costa Rica End Sessions will have trinkets and other items for sale. Some students will be dressed in traditional attire from countries around the world, and some of the V.I. International Academy students will be representing France, Italy, Greece, Guatemala and Costa Rica as ambassadors during the event. There will also be a program in which the student body will perform selections from an international repertoire. This event is opened to the community, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the relief efforts in Haiti.
