CareForce Offers Seniors Immunizations, Screenings

Virgin Islands CareForce, a project to increase preventive health services to seniors, will offer free healthcare to seniors at events Thursday and Friday on St. Thomas and St. John.
On St. Thomas the event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the UVI Sports & Fitness Center and from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Tutu.
On St. John, the event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Ursula’s Senior Center.
The joint civilian-military project has provided health services to medically underserved communities, particularly senior residents, since 2000.
Focusing on the delivery of influenza, including H1N1, and pneumococcal immunization, this year’s Careforce events include such other health services as blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, dental, vision, and foot exams.
