Arrest Made in September Homicide

Kemoy Thompson18-year-old Kemoy Thompson of Estate Thomas was arrested just before 1 p.m. Friday and charged with first degree murder in the September 20 homicide of Curtiss Thomas.
Major Crimes detective made the arrest based a warrant issued by Magistrate Kathleen Mackey. Thompson was held on a $150,000 bail, which he was unable to post. He was then remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
In September, police officers were called to an area near the Domino Gas Station in Estate Frydenhoj, where they found 23-year-old Thomas. Police reports at the time said the victim appeared to have been shot more than once in his side and back. Thomas was taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. and Police Chief Rodney F. Querrard commended the Major Crime and Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives for their "solid police work that brought this criminal to face justice."
