Celebration of John McKevitt's Life Planned

Feb. 2, 2009 – John McKevitt, longtime employee of Dockside Bookshop, died suddenly on Jan. 12, after a brief illness.
Born in New York City in 1948, John was raised in South California. He served in the U.S. Air Force, mostly in Japan. Upon returning to California, John attended college and received a Bachelor of Arts degree with studies in history, classics and business law. He worked at many different jobs, including a stint with the U.S. Post Office and ten years at a library in Indio, California.
John moved to St. Thomas in 1989 and worked on the Kon-Tiki before finding his niche at Dockside Bookshop in1991. He loved the theater and performed in several Pistarckle Theater productions. His many interests included history, movies, fantasy books, art, football and Nascar. He is survived by numerous friends and his beloved cat, Callie.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 4 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Dockside Bookshop.
Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home.
