Army National Guard Pvt. Keiron Hendrickson/St. Thomas
Sept. 4, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Pvt. Keiron Hendrickson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values. He received instruction and practice in physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Hendrickson is the son of Kurtley Hendrickson of Walton Ave., Bronx, N.Y., and Jessica Hendrickson of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Army National Guard Spc. Cleon Otto/St. Thomas
Sept. 4, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army National Guard Spc. Cleon Otto has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field-training exercises.
Otto is the son of Cleon and Tracelyn Otto of E. 313th St., St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
In 2005, the specialist graduated from Ivana Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas.
Army Spc. Kathryn R. Moore/St. Thomas
Sept. 10, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Army Spc. Kathryn R. Moore has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values. She received instruction and practice in physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Moore earned distinction as an honor graduate.
She is the daughter of Carol Moore of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and granddaughter of Gwen Gustafson of N. Sycamore St., Villa Grove, Ill.
In 2003, the specialist graduated from the Antilles School, St. Thomas, and received a bachelor's degree in 2007 from Lafayette College, Easton, Pa.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Tasha L. Warner/St. Croix
Sept. 19, 2008 (Army & Air Force Hometown News) – Air Force Airman 1st Class Tasha L. Warner has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
She is the daughter of Georgiana Johnson of Mount Pleasant, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands.
Marine Corps Pvt. Joseph A. Melendez/St. Thomas
Sept. 22, 2008 (Fleet Hometown News Center) – Marine Corps Pvt. Joseph A. Melendez, son of Bernadette V. Melendez of St. Thomas, V. I. and Joseph A. Melendez, Sr. of Conyers, Ga., recently graduated from the Basic Distribution Management Specialist Course at the Marine Corps Combat Support Service School's Supply School located at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, N. C.
The mission of the supply school is to conduct resident training for officers and enlisted personnel in the supply, fiscal accounting and disbursing fields. The school also provided billeting and administrative support to perform functions necessary for discipline, morale and welfare of both students and permanent personnel.
Melendez is a 2004 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School of St. Thomas, V. I. and joined the Marine Corps in February 2008.
