Brief: Christensen to Host Public Meeting on Heritage Area Status

Aug. 13, 2008 — Delegate Donna M. Christensen will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at The New Drive Inn to discuss the designation of St. Croix as a National Heritage Area.
"We want to hear your ideas, concerns, suggestions and vision for the future of St. Croix," she said, according to a news release from her office.
Community participation will be important for St. Croix to join a network of existing heritage areas across the nation, Christensen said.
"The designation of St. Croix as a National Heritage Area will encourage the preservation and celebration of St. Croix as a historic and heritage landscape," she said. "The first and very critical step to achieving this is community engagement and support. We have a rich and bold story to tell — of our culture, our heritage, our environment, our greatness. It is important that have our entire community's story to be a part of this project."
