Wyatt Heat in Government Softball Final After Defeating Injectables 6-1

Aug. 13, 2008 — The Juan Luis Hospital Injectables got sent packing until next season Tuesday by Wyatt Heat, losing 6-1 in the bullet game of their best-of-three playoff series in the Governmental Coed Softball League.
Jose Rivera, the Heat's starting pitcher, threw a three-hitter and limited the Injectables to just a lone first-inning run over seven innings in getting the win. Injectables starter Myron Johannes — who did not pitch a bad game in scattering just five hits in his complete-game effort — got the loss. Wyatt Heat proved to be just a little bit better than his team offensively and defensively on Tuesday.
The game, played at the Renholt Jackson Sport Complex in Estate Whim, saw the Injectables draw first blood by scoring their only run of the game on an RBI double off the bat of Rashawn Foster to take the early lead. The Heat responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run triple off the bat of Eric Perez to take the lead for good at 2-1, and that proved to be all the runs Rivera would need.
Wyatt Heat would add two more runs in the bottom of the third on RBI singles by David Gonzalez and Warren Brooks, then completed the scoring for the game with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Rivera and an Injectables error.
Top hitters for the Heat were Perez, 1 for 2 with two RBIs, and Rivera, 1 for 2 with one RBI. For the Injectables, Foster went 2 for 3 with one RBI.
