Arts Alive to Present 27th Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Festival

April 10, 2007 — Come see the work of local artists, listen to the sounds of wonderful local musicians, see demonstrations and get those kids involved in a hands-on art project they can take home with them during the 27th Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Festival.
Presented by Arts Alive, the festival will be held May 5-6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tillett Gardens.
Kids will have a chance to create their own artwork and win prizes for their efforts in the Kid’s Corner on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm in the lobby of Pistarckle Theatre. The Kids’s Corner is brought to you by Arts Alive and is sponsored in part by The Traveling Road Show.
There will demonstrations throughout the festival. Entertainment and music will start at 11a.m. and continue throughout the day until 4 p.m.
Here is a sampling of some of the fantastic artists that have signed up for this show:
Fine artists: Aphrodite – Oil Paintings, Tillett Gallery – Silkscreen island maps and prints, Arroyo Riva – Acrylics and Gouache, Shirley Stendahl-McLeod – Large limited edition prints, oils and watercolors.
Jewelry makers: Caribbean Glo – Handmade beaded jewelry, Tiffany Miller – Beaded jewelry and accessories, Betsy Pfordresher-LaPlace – Original sterling silver and gold jewelry, Leah Norton – Wire wrapped jewelry, Lisa Nunes – Handcrafted beaded jewelry, Kirsten Brunn – Handmade semiprecious stone jewelry, Cindy Born – Gold and Silver Jewelry made from black coral, sea glass, beads and gemstones, Staci Morgan – Custom beaded jewelry, Maria Siemering – Handcrafted Bead Creations.
Clay Artists: Alison Davis – Alison’s Wonderland, Kimberly Young – Everyday Clay Studio, Ruth Prager – Kazooti Clay Studio, Lynn and Rick Berry – Ridván Studio.
Crafts: Jason Budsan – Caribbean Herbals Candles & Soaps, Mary Mercer – Handmade soaps and lotions, Cheryl’s Taste of Paradise – Homemade Sauces, Jerks and Jams, Barbara Mark – Afro centric creations, Dorothy Mercer – Handcrafted purses and guava berry liqueur, Merry Phillips – Handmade Christmas ornaments, Hand Paint’d Company – Hand painted silks, glassware, tiles and clothing, Treasures of Zion – All natural body products.
Food: Jack’s Restaurant – If you haven’t tried their wings, you don’t know Jack! Harriett Mercer – local foods, funnel cakes and local drinks, A5 Restaurant – Local food.
And don’t forget to visit The Zen Retreat Holistic Health Center, which will be open for tours and appointments. The retreat includes the Satya Hair and Nail Salon, The Spa, The Yoga Studio and Bodhi Bookstore.
Raffle tickets will be sold during the entire show with drawings done every hour, and there will be several items up for silent auction.
