Caribbean Community Theater Presents 'Deathrap'

March 29, 2007 – Caribbean Community Theater presents "Deathtrap," a comedy, suspense thriller written by Ira Levin. There will be seven performances of this play at 8 p.m., on Friday and Saturday, March 30, 31, April 6, 7 and 13, with two Sunday matinees at 4 p.m., on April 1 and 15. All shows are at the Caribbean Community Theatre at No. 18 Estate Orange Grove in Christiansted. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Charles Braslow directs the play and the cast includes Julie Beberman, Fred Handleman, Devin Hennessy, Christine Thomas and Nick Tyler.
The plot within a plot concerns Sydney Bruhl, an acclaimed Broadway playwright, who has encountered a dry spell and is desperate to have a successful show. When Clifford Anderson, one of Sydney's students, sends him a promising manuscript titled "Deathtrap," Sydney and his wife invite Clifford to their New England home. Clifford agrees to collaborate with Sydney, and a classic thriller combining suspense and humor is set in motion.
Note: this play is not recommended for children under age 12, unless accompanied by a consenting adult. There is mild adult content and some language, and the plot is full of tension and shocking plot twists. The director says: "There will be a physician in attendance at all shows!"
"Two-thirds a thriller and one-third a devilishly clever comedy… Suspend your disbelief and be delighted. Scream a little. It's good for you." – Cue Magazine
"If you care to assassinate yourself with laughter, try "Deathtrap" – Time Magazine
