Dear Source:
Congratulations to the volunteers and staff of the Humane Society of St. Thomas for their success in setting the stage for the Capital Building Campaign for the new campus at the Valentine's Ball. The optimistic presentation by Randy Knight detailing the construction progress gives us all hope for solutions to the issues of animal neglect, abuse and abandonment in our community. It is important to hear the connections verbalized between animal abuse and human behaviors. The new Humane Society campus creates a place to teach our children to love and care for animals while igniting their human potential in caring for others in our society.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN means putting together the money to "set in cement" the final construction of the new facility. Many of us have already made our pledges and now is the time to come thru with the cash as building costs mount and 7 years of dreams are unfolding at the new site.
I am amazed by the power of sharing on this small island of ours; where else does a town of 60,000 attempt the challenge of building an animal rescue campus to this scale? I hope you will join my family in sending in your contribution to the Humane Society very soon so this vision can stay on track. I know that making your pledge workable for your family is possible; with many options, timed payment plans or monthly pledges available. Our collective humane efforts for animal protection will confirm a future of positive growth for all of us.
Families in need will be rescued by the same process, saving animals saves families. The financial contributions from those with less wealth will end up being the benchmark of living among our entire population. Special warm purring thanks to Susan Chandler, the Capital Campaign manager for her positive energy and relentless work in making this mission absolutely possible.
Jane Higgins
