May 10, 2006 – A bomb threat called in to Seaborne Airlines Wednesday morning had traffic backed up for more than two hours on Veterans Drive.
Omer ErSelcuk, Seaborne chief marketing officer, said a bomb threat was called in to the St. Thomas office shortly after 9:30 a.m., Wednesday. He said, "It was isolated to St. Thomas. We believe it is bogus, but we are waiting for the bomb squad to complete its sweep. We did a sweep of the St. Croix station as well."
An agent at the St. Thomas office said the 9:45 a.m. flight was departing at 11 a.m. Sgt. Thomas Hannah, police spokesman, confirmed a threat was called in to the St. Thomas Seaborne office about 9:42 a.m. Wednesday.
This is not the first time the airline has been affected by the threat calls. Two bomb threats were called in to the airline last summer.
