Writer Wants the Positives of Paradise Accented

Dear Source,
Four years on St Croix, certainly a newcomer but definitely not a tourist………. yet mystified by why Virgin Islanders constantly harken back to an isolated incident from 33 years ago.(A link to a story about the incident was in "@Work: Paul and Jill's Equestrian Stables").
There appears to be a macabre sense of enjoyment, which comes from the retelling of this horrible tragedy.
Let the Fountain Valley incident recede into oblivion for once and forever.
It is bad enough that outside forces want to bring this up to try and strangle the struggling St Croix tourist economy. Do we have to do it to ourselves? How long? 40 years 50, 100 years? When will it be over?
Everyday every major city has terribly brutal incidents occurring in the streets and on the highways. These various places are not known for these tragedies. It is a consequence of human nature.
So Virgin Islands let it go. You don't have to hide it, but you certainly don't have to bring it up. Let us focus on the positive aspects of the island and life in paradise.
Ivan P. Minarik
