Community Alert: Flu Vaccines Now Available to Everyone

Dec. 17, 2004 – The V.I. Health Department Immunization Program now has sufficient flu vaccines and is now encouraging all those who wish to get vaccinated to do so at any of the Immunization Program's clinics, Commissioner Darlene Carty announced Friday in a release.
The department continues to urge individuals to get vaccinated post-haste, especially those individuals at risk for complications:
-Children 6 to 23 months of age.
-People 50 years of age and older.
-People who have long-term health problems such as diabetes, sickle cell, asthma, anemia, heart, lung and kidney diseases.
-Women pregnant during the flu season.
-Children 6 months to 18 years of age on long-term aspirin therapy.
-People with a weakened immune system.
