Hovensa Golfers Earn Money for Charities

June 5, 2004… The 6th Annual Hovensa President's Golf Tournament was held May 29 at the Carambola Golf Club. One hundred and twenty-eight persons – Hovensa employees, employees of contractors and suppliers at the refinery, and friends of Hovensa – competed in the tournament.
Lawrence J, Kupfer, Hovensa president and chief operating officer, said that he was pleased with the turnout for the tournament and the opportunity it provided for workers at the refinery to get together for some exercise and to promote the concept of team building.
During the tournament, Kupfer challenged each of the golfers to hit the straightest tee shot on the par 4, 12th hole, with the winner being able to designate a $100 contribution from Hovensa to a charity of his or her choice.
