May 11, 2002 – The Good Hope Falcons edged the Ivanna Eudora Kean Devil Rays, 6-4, in game one of five games that were played Saturday in day two of the St. Thomas-St. Croix Baseball Challenge. Game two saw the Antilles Hurricanes defeating the Educational Complex Barracudas, 11-4 at the Michael J. Kirwan Terrace Ballfield. The Charlotte Amalie High School Chicken Hawks beat the Falcons, 14-4. in the third game. The Devil Rays stung the Barracudas,17-8, in the fourth game. In the fifth and final game of the day the Chicken Hawks topped the Hurricanes, 14-4.
In the first game, the Falcons stunned the Devil Rays when pitcher Nick Colabella held the Devil Rays offense to just one hit in the first four innings as his team took a 5-0 lead. The Devil Rays did eventually get their offense started, but too late.
Colabella recorded the win for the Falcons, as Kemo Simeon received the loss. Both teams had a total of six hits each. Kyle LaMotta had two hits in three at bats and Ashri Richardson had two hits in four at bats. The Falcons had six different playerswith one hit a piece. The Falcons committed five errors, while the Devil Rays had a total of three.
In game two, the Hurricanes continued the dominance of the St. Croix district teams with the victory over the Barracudas. The Hurricanes scored in every inning except the third. Meanwhile the Barracudas scored three runs in the forth inning and a single run in the six inning.
The Hurricanes had nine hits compared to seven for the Barracudas. The Hurricanes also committed more errors than the Barracudas, 6-4. The Hurricanes’ Seth Farrelly pitched for the victory. Ricardo Encarnacion took the lost for the Barracudas.
Michael Ferracho had two hits in three at bats for the Hurricanes. His teammates John Gazi and Matt Harlow each had two hits in four at bats. Ferracho hit a solo home run and Gazi hit a two-run home run in the second inning. Encarnacion hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for the Barracudas and Kewonn Steele had two hits in three at bats.
In the third game the Chicken Hawks soared over the Falcons. Tehron Christian picked up the win for the Chicken Hawks as Alex Gissel suffered the loss. The Chicken Hawks had eight hits and committed just one error as the Falcons had three hits and three errors.
The Chicken Hawks’ Rashawn Lewis had three hits in three at bats. His teammates, Dijon Carrillo and Vernon Jones were also perfect in two plate appearances to lead the team offensively.
Game four saw the Devil Rays erupt for 13 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to overcome a 8-4 deficit. A total of 17 batters came up to bat in the inning.
Deshawn Brooks and LaMotta each had four hits in four at bats. Brooks had two home runs in the fifth inning, a two-run and a grand slam. Simeon also hit a two-run home run in that inning. Bernard Douglas Jr. hit the first home run for the Devil Rays with a solo blast in the fourth inning.
Carl Joseph hit a two-run home run in the third inning in going two for two for the game for the Barracudas. His teammates, Darnell Hendrickson and Coltin Williams each had two hits in three at bats. In the fifth and final game the opponent was different but the outcome was the same as the Chicken Hawks down graded the Hurricanes to a gentle breeze. The Chicken Hawks pounded 13 hits in the game , while the Hurricanes had seven. The Hurricanes did play errorless baseball, while the Chicken Hawks committed three errors.
However, all but two of the Chicken Hawks starters had a hit. Sean David had two hits in two at bats, Kwame Jarvis had three hits in four at bats and Marlon Richardson and Carrillo each had two hits in three at bats. Richardson hit a two-run home run and LeQuinn Herbert hit a three-run home run both in the second inning.
Matt Harlow and Farrelly each had two hits in three at bats for the Hurricanes. Harlow hit a solo home run in the third inning. Moriba George picked up the victory and Harlow suffered the lost for their respective teams.

The games are six inning or two hours with a ten-run mercy rule. Additionally the home team will be determined by a coin toss before each game.
