STATE OF THE TERRITORY SET FOR JAN. 29

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull will give his State of the Territory address at 7 p.m. Jan. 29.
A terse statement from Government House Sunday night said that prior to his departure for Atlanta, Turnbull sent Sen. Almando "Rocky" Liburd a letter accepting the date of Monday, Jan. 29, to give his address.
Earlier in the week Turnbull announced he would be out of the territory Monday, the date of the first session of the 24th Legislature, when the address would traditionally be given. Turnbull rescheduled the address to Jan. 16 at that time.
As president-elect of the new Legislature, Liburd wrote to the governor Friday saying the Jan. 16 date was not acceptable. He offered four other dates, including Jan. 29.
Turnbull went to Atlanta on Sunday, where he is slated to receive an award from the Turner Broadcasting System.
