A federal anti-drug operation continued over the weekend with the arrests of four persons in St. Thomas and St. John.
The arrests, carried out by agents of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, came after the suspects sold illegal drugs to undercover agents.
The operation began Friday night in Cruz Bay when Michael Powell allegedly sold crack cocaine to the agent at Woody's Seafood Saloon. Ashana Powell is charged with selling crack cocaine to agents in the Festival Village, while Myron Callwood allegedly sold crack to the undercover agents.
On Saturday night, agents said they purchased crack cocaine from George Penn at the Warehouse Bar in Red Hook. A day later the agents allegedly bought cocaine from Powell at the Front Yard Bar in Cruz Bay.
In a federal court hearing Monday, the Powells, Callwood and Penn were charged with possession of drugs with intent to supply.
FBI special agent John Groeschner said the anti-drug initiative came in response to open illegal drug transactions in the area. The agents were reported to have purchased up to $150 worth of illegal narcotics in each instance.
The four suspects are to remain in custody until a bail hearing Friday.
