SPACE SHUTTLE ASTRONAUT TO SPEAK AT LOCAL SCHOOLS

Former NASA astronaut Mike Mullane will speak to high school students throughout St. Croix this week.
Through arrangements made by HOVENSA, the retired astronaut who completed three space missions aboard the space shuttles Discovery and Atlantis will talk to students about lessons learned from the Challenger disaster. Mullane, now a motivational speaker, retired in 1990.
Mullane will focus students on team work, communication, ownership, accountability, trust and maintaining a strong sense of responsibility.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Mullane will speak at the Good Hope School; on Wednesday at the St. Croix Educational Complex; and on Friday at Central High School.
In addition to the school speaking engagements, Mullane will speak at several assemblies at the HOVENSA refinery over the next week as part of the company’s effort to promote the importance of safety on the job.
