SEAHORSE RECEPTION AT CORAL WORLD

From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 12, Coral World welcomes the public to a special evening in honor of the seahorse couple that has given birth to 958 seahorse babies in the past three months.
The evening will include wine, cheese, a lecture by Curator Donna Nemeth and a symphony composed in honor of the seahorses.
The evening will also include a "behind-the-scenes" tour of Coral World's seahorse rearing facility where guests can see seahorse babies of different ages.
In December Coral World staged its first release of seahorses into their environment. With the help of the Reef Rangers, V.I. Ecotours and several volunteers 140 of these mystical creatures were released in the Mangrove Lagoon.
There will be another release at several sites in St. Thomas and St. John sometime at the end of February or beginning of March.
The cost of the special seahorse reception will be $20 ($17 for Coral World Members). Reservations are requested. Call 775-1555 ext. 246.
