St. Thomas police are investigating a robbery in Kirwan Terrace that put one man in the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
According to VIPD spokesperson Melody Rames, police responding to a report of shots being fired in the area discovered that a 24-year-old man had been shot at least once in the upper body after being robbed of his jewelry. The man was treated at the scene by emergency medical technicians and taken to the hospital.
While at the hospital, the victim told police that he was walking in the housing community when he was approached by two unknown suspects who grabbed for the gold chain and pendant around his neck. The victim said he was shot after trying to fight the suspects, who fled the area on foot.
