The Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC) has announced it is accepting proposals effective April 8 and closing on May 20, for three federal Justice Assistance Grants (FY2019, FY2020 and FY2021).
The Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission (LEPC), with funding through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs is facilitating the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
Applications are being accepted from private non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, government agencies, law enforcement programs, youth programs, rehabilitation, drug treatment and behavioral health programs, to assist in implementing effective crime prevention, control, reduction, enforcement of criminal law, and criminal justice improvement projects.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant is the primary provider of federal criminal justice funds. Funds are used to address law enforcement efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence, to address drugrelated and juvenile delinquency issues, law enforcement programs, drug treatment and enforcement programs, prevention and educational programs, prosecution and court programs, corrections and community corrections programs, planning, evaluation and technology improvement programs, crime victim and witness programs, mental health programs, and related law enforcement and corrections programs, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention programs.
For summer and after-school programs, the funding limit per application is $10,000-$40,000.
Non-profit organizations applying must include the following documents in their application package:
- A valid Unique Entity ID (UEI) number
- Registration on www.SAM.gov
- Certificate of Incorporation
- IRS Determination Letter regarding 50l(c)3 status.
- Articles of Incorporation
- A current Certificate of Good Standing from the Lt. Governor’s Office.
Failure to submit all documents by the scheduled deadline will result in disqualification for funding. Each grant application must be received by LEPC electronically at the following email addresses, respectively, per corresponding RFP, by no later than 4 p.m. on Monday, May 20:
