UVI Closed for The Martin Luther King Holiday on January 15 The University of the Virgin Islands will be closed on Monday, Jan. 15, in commemoration of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.

Administrative offices and classes will resume at their regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

VI Agriculture Business Center St. Thomas Opening Event Set for January 18 The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI SBDC) invite the public to the opening event of the Virgin Islands Agriculture Business Center (VI AgBC) from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, in the 13D Research and Strategy Innovation Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.

Creating the Virgin Islands Agriculture Business Center will provide local farmers and fishers with small business education and resources. The VI AgBC is available to clients on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John, with service centers on each island accommodated by consultants and support staff working to move the territory closer to food security and sovereignty.

CPR First Aid Training set for January 17 at the UVI Simulation Center on St. Croix Why not start the new year with training and certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)?  Learn how to protect and save the lives of those you love.

Enroll in the AHA Heartsaver Adult and Child CPR AED and First Aid training course at the UVI Medical Simulation Center (UVI MSC).

The first class of the new year is on Jan. 17, 2024, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

UVI MSC Training Courses

Do not delay getting the knowledge, training and confidence to act in an emergency. The UVI MSC has classes like this and other training courses for civilian and healthcare professionals.

The UVI Medical Simulation Center on St. Croix is an authorized American Heart Association (AHA) International Training Center (ITC) offering a catalog of AHA training courses, and it is also a National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) authorized training center offering “Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education” (CAPCE) for EMS personnel.

Additionally, courses are offered by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and other advanced healthcare practitioner training.

2024 Afternoon on the Green Theme Sought from the Community In keeping with tradition, the Afternoon on the Green planning committee is seeking theme ideas from the community for the 32nd annual event. To enter the theme contest, ideas must be submitted by Jan. 15. The winner will receive two event tickets, UVI branded gifts and bragging rights!

As luck would have it, the 2024 Afternoon on the Green is scheduled on St. Patrick’s Day, from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, March 17, at the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas. With a packed schedule of musical entertainment, cultural activities, and family fun, the event promises to have something for everyone in addition to a feast of local delicacies.

Save the Date: University of the Virgin Islands Set 2024 Commencement Dates The University of the Virgin Islands has set the dates for the 2024 commencement on both campuses.

  • Thursday, May 9, 2024 – The Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center on the St. Thomas Campus
  • Friday, May 10, 2024 – The Grounds of the Albert A. Sheen Campus on the St. Croix Campus

Information will be shared with the Virgin Islands’ wider community about the ongoing process.
