The hog plum is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree reaching between 50 to 60 feet in height and with 2 ½ feet in trunk diameter. The bark of the hog plum tree is whitish-brown or gray, rather smoothish except for many spinelike projections ¼ to ¾ inch long, becoming rough and furrowed. I found this hog plum tree trunk to be short. Usually, the trunk of hog plum is tall where you can’t reach the fruits from the standing on the ground.
