Man Shot in Back While Riding Scooter

A man was shot several times in the back while riding his scooter on St. Thomas Wednesday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Around 7:29 p.m. on Wednesday, VIPD officers were dispatched to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center Emergency Room about a gunshot victim, according to the police report.

When officers arrived, the male victim, 29, explained that he was shot several times in the back while riding his scooter in the Smith Bay area. He further explained that he was transported to the emergency room via private vehicle to seek medical attention due to his injuries, the police report stated.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to contact 911, Detective S. Rhymer of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 or Crime Stoppers V.I. at 1-800-222-8476.
