Delegate to Congress Stacey E. Plaskett met Tuesday with officials from the Department of the Interior, the National Park Service and other community players on St. John, discussing among other things the proposed trade of land for the construction of a new school on the island.

“Today, I met with officials from the Department of Interior, the National Park Service and discussed a host of issues integral to our St. John community,” Plaskett said in a news release issued Tuesday evening. “Foremost among those issues was continued discussion and planning regarding the land exchange agreement to construct the first K-12 public school on St. John. This land swap is long overdue and is something that my office and I advocated for and worked toward from my very first term in Congress.”

Plaskett said others involved in Tuesday’s St. John meeting included the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park.

The meeting also touched on the historical importance of the ruins on the beach at Cinnamon Bay.
