Police Extradite STT Man to Face Murder Charges

Officers of the V.I. Police Department on Friday traveled to Durham, North Carolina, to extradite 29-year-old Jabaar Mactavious to St. Thomas, pursuant to an arrest warrant charging him in an April 16 murder.

According to VIPD, Mactavious was arrested by VIPD officers on Aug. 14, after he had been taken into custody by officers in North Carolina.

Mactavious was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during the commission a crime and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Police said Mactavious had been identified as the individual who shot and killed Shaq’kil Roberts on April 16 in Tutu Valley.

St. Thomas/St. John Chief of Police Steven Phillip thanked those residents who gave tips to VIPD to assist in making this arrest.

“We appreciate the support of our community and everyone who told us what they knew about this incident. Continue to use your voice to say something if you see something,” Phillip said.
