VIPD Investigates Two Bodies Found in Separate STT Locations

The V.I. Police Department is investigating two bodies found in separate locations on St. Thomas Sunday.

At 12:08 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community in reference to a deceased person. Arriving at the scene, police found the body of a partially decomposed male in Building 6 of the housing community. A family member of the deceased identified the man as 51-year-old Foster D. Cornelius.

The body was removed from the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy is performed.

At 1:18 p.m. officers were dispatched to Bordeaux Beach to a report of a body in the water. At the scene officers found that an unresponsive male had been removed from the water.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene reported that the male had no signs of life.

The victim was identified by next of kin as 58-year-old Christian Beaupierre. The body was removed from the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office, and the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.

Both cases are under investigation. Police urged anyone with information about either death to call 911, the Major Crime Unit at 340-774-2211 ext. 5606 or the anonymous tip services, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
