A new coffee shop has entered the Bovoni area, offering commuters and residents a new coffee option along a heavily traveled route.

The Roasted Coconut Coffee Shop is located inside Island Life Water Sports, a family-owned business that has operated in the community for years. The shop is owned and operated by sisters Savannah and Angelica Perez who moved to the island a few years ago.ย

โ€œBovoni is such a central area, with so many people passing through on their way to work, school, appointments, and other destinations, yet there werenโ€™t many coffee options available. We saw an opportunity to bring something new and convenient to this area of the community,โ€ said Angelica Perez, speaking on behalf of the business.

The shopโ€™s location within an existing family business has allowed the sisters to operate alongside relatives, while establishing their own venture. The Roasted Coconut menu was developed through a process of research, recipe testing, and flavor refinement according to Angelica Perez. The sisters focused on creating a range of offerings that would appeal to both dedicated coffee drinkers and casual consumers. Seasonal drinks and rotating specialty flavors are introduced periodically, while core menu items remain available year-round.

โ€œWe put a lot of thought into every detail of our space, from the decor and cozy atmosphere, to the menu itself. We wanted to create a place that feels warm and inviting from the moment you step inside,โ€ said Angelica Perez. The shop operates with a smaller footprint, which the owners say contributes to a more personalized customer experience. The sisters place an emphasis on consistency, friendly interaction, and building relationships with customers.

Looking ahead, the business plans to introduce an online ordering system and pickup window to streamline service for the on-the-go patrons. The owners are also exploring the possibility of hosting small monthly community events with other local businesses and residents. These initiatives are part of a larger goal to increase accessibility, while maintaining the shopโ€™s current service model. Angelica Perez said the business is also committed to the ongoing refinement of its menu and customer experience based on feedback from patrons.

The Roasted Coconut joins a limited number of coffee retailers on the east end of the island of St. Thomas, with sights set on future expansion of services and offerings as the business continues to establish itself in the community.

โ€œWeโ€™re incredibly grateful for the support we have received so far. And we are excited to see where the journey takes us,โ€ says Perez.
