Alton Vidal, a 46-year-old St. Thomas man, was arrested Saturday, Dec. 7, and after a woman told the V.I. Police Department he had punched and choked her during a dispute.
According to the VIPD, officers arrested Vidal at 11:50 p.m. and charged him with second-degree assault/domestic violence.
The victim told police Vidal assaulted her during a dispute, reportedly punching her several times and strangling her. The victim sustained injuries from the assault and sought medical attention at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital Emergency Room.
Vidal was contacted at his home and placed under arrest, police said. He was not offered bail per the domestic violence laws and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
