Parent of Student Charged with Beating Markoe Student

On Sept. 20 a staff member from the Claude O. Markoe Elementary School reported that an adult female, 35-year-old Betsaida Santiago, abused a minor student. 

The V.I. Police Department arrested 35-year-old Betsaida Santiago at 11:34 a.m. Monday, and charged her with child abuse. She was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending her advice of rights hearing.

According to police, Santiago assaulted the child about the body, causing numerous injuries.
